A Science Experiment We Tried at Home

Here's an experiment we tried at home.

We tried to mix oil and water -
oil is hydrophobic. It is less dense than water, so it floated on top.

We tried to dissolve salt in both oil and water. It dissolves in water not oil. We put red food color in a glass with oil and water. The food color was hydrophilic so the water turned red.
